STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) Officials at a private Connecticut school issued an apology following racist allegations against Black students, announcing plans to make the institution more diverse and inclusive.
Anonymous testimonies were posted to an Instagram account starting in June 2020 detailing the racist behaviors, the Stamford Advocate reported. The posts often named specific staff members at King School, and some of the allegations included Black students being told they couldn’t get into prestigious universities, students using racial slurs and double standards.
An administrator for the Instagram account declined to speak on the record.

Israeli archaeologists have discovered a 1,600-year-old multicolored mosaic pavement dated to the Byzantine period, the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) said on Monday.
The mosaic was found during excavations prior to the development of a new neighborhood in the central city of Yavne. The well-preserved mosaic may have graced a mansion, probably a part of a splendid residential building in a wealthy neighborhood adjacent to an ancient industrial zone, the team said.
The floor exposed was decorated with colorful geometric motifs and has a black rectangular frame.

James LeBrecht, co-director of Oscar nominated documentary, Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution wowed on the red carpet at this year s Academy Awards. Instead of wearing a usual black tux, he wore a custom-made navy-blue Gucci ensemble with a black and ivory flower print shift.
While it is expected for Oscar nominees to walk the red carpet in a custom suit, this is unique for LeBrecht. Not only was Crip Camp: A disability Revolution made on a small budget leaving little room for expensive red-carpet looks, but LeBrecht also has spina bifida and is reliant on a wheelchair to get around.

Black Americans are constantly struggling with an array of paradoxes one of which is our sense of “home.” For many of us, America is the only “home” we know and we all know the reason. As such, America is only “home” in its tangible sense.particularly because we can never fully feel comfortable here.

Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse, Michael B. Jordan and Jodie Turner-Smith’s characters reflect upon this as Black soldiers fighting for a country that doesn’t love them back. Can Black Americans fully be patriotic in this country, given the grotesque history as well as the ongoing affront to Black lives?
